Causes of Gummy Smile

Some people are born with a gummy smile while others will develop this condition as they get older. Some causes of a gummy smile are:

  • Teeth that appear short because they erupted improperly and remain partially covered by gum tissue
  • Teeth that are small in comparison to the gums due to genetics or wear
  • An upper lip that is too short
  • Gums that are long or enlarged,
  • An overgrowth of the upper jaw
  • Lip shape

How long will the results last for?

Injectable fillers can up to last between 3-6 months and you can start to see results within a few days.

Are there any side effects or risks to treatment?

Is the treatment painful?

You may think it will hurt a tiny bit, but we do administer a topical anaesthetic to minimise discomfort. As it is being injected into a delicate area, do expect a minor pinching sensation.
